Head of Business Development


The Company is a seed stage venture-backed company, with a vision to leverage AI/ML to unlock non-viral delivery for genetic medicines, including mRNA-based therapeutics, vaccines and gene therapy. The platform is powered by an integration of high-throughput screening wet lab capabilities with machine learning in order to develop drug delivery systems.

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to lead our strategic planning and business development efforts, with proven experience in closing deals between biotech and pharma companies. The Head of Business Development will be responsible for strategizing business efforts, nurturing potential partnerships and executing deals negotiations to closing.

The role includes collaborations internally with R&D, product, and data teams and externally with potential partners, as well as with the advisory board and company leadership to align on the best strategy and discover the best path towards signing valuable business deals.

The role requires a broad range of personal skills - market understanding, relationships building, communication, negotiation skills and team work, as well as experience in deal making path - from nurturing the right partners, pharma decision-making understanding, legal aspects and closing.

The company is headquartered in Israel, so the role is remotely located in the US. It will require frequent travel within the US and occasionally outside US. The role will report to the CEO.


  • Lead Mana’s business development activities, including the development of Mana’s strategic plan

  • Identify, evaluate, and propose licensing opportunities in accordance with Mana’s overall strategy

  • Lead deal structure discussions with partners, including negotiations of key terms, contracting and related diligence, in collaboration with the R&D team and external counsel and consultants

  • Build strong relationships with potential partners to drive effective management of business development, including in-licensing and out-licensing opportunities

  • Develop and maintain landscape analysis for potential partners who are strategically aligned with Mana’s strategy, as well as competitive and overall market landscape

  • Identify market opportunities in which Mana has competitive advantage, as well as insights to impact internal product decisions and platform development

  • Lead marketing efforts and external communications to create awareness of the company’s technology and capabilities and differentiation in the market

  • Develop and maintain financial modeling and creation of forecasting in partnership with the leadership team and Finance


  • 5-8 years of experience in business development roles within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries

  • B.A. / B.S. degree in biological sciences required. Advanced degree (MBA, PhD, PharmD) in business or scientific discipline preferred

  • Analytical approach, strong critical thinking, and decision-making skills

  • Deal making and negotiation experience with track record of leading transactions (e.g., partnership, collaboration, license, research agreements)

  • Broad knowledge of the pharmaceutical / biotech landscape, R&D trends, and market opportunities

  • Good understanding of the biotech/pharmaceutical business. Ability to navigate complex pharma organizations and drive transactions internally and externally

  • Attention to detail, adaptive and flexible to changing priorities. Loves to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills

  • Ability to communicate scientific concepts and data. Scientific background with genetic medicine is an advantage
